New York Jets quarterback Trevor Siemian is out for the year according to trainer Adam Gase.
Siemian, filling in for sick starter Sam Darnold, has been hurt in the second quarter of Monday night’s loss to the Cleveland Browns. The New York Daily News reported he had ligament damage but didn’t break his ankle.
A sombre Gase announced last Thursday that Darnold declared Siemian the starter and had mononucleosis.
He will now turn into participant Luke Falk, who had been raised from the practice squad following Darnold was sidelined. Falk was selected by the Tennessee Titans .
Darnold Won’t play on Sunday against the New England Patriots, and the Jets have a bye. He is likely to miss based on his recovery.
Gase shown the Darnold was back in the team facility.
“He’s feeling better. The physicians are letting us know how to proceed along with him” Gase explained.
Gase included that a wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (knee/hamstring) and linebacker Jordan Jenkins (calf) have been monitored to some week-to-week basis. Linebacker C.J. Mosley is day-to-day using a groin injury.
The first-year Jets coach also addressed the status of cornerback Trumaine Johnson, that did not find action in Monday night’s 23-3 reduction until late in the fourth quarter. In March 2018, Johnson signed a last-minute, $72.5m arrangement with the Jets, $45m of it ensured.
“We just chose not to play him,” Gase explained, adding it wasn’t for disciplinary measures.
