Manchester City have commissioned a sculpture of priest Vincent Kompany to be set up beyond the Etihad Stadium.
Even the Premier League champions also have renamed a road in their practice complex after the Belgian defender.
The road connecting the academy pitches and the centre of the club has been renamed’Vincent Kompany Crescent’, and includes a mosaic motivated by his goal against Manchester United at 2012.
Manchester City announced the plans in the Etihad, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
“It’s an extraordinary honour to be recognised by this special club this way,” explained Kompany, who made 360 appearances for City.
“The trip that we went on together throughout my 11 years in Manchester changed my entire life and I am thrilled to have played my small role in altering the course of this club’s history during that moment.”
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak included:”Vincent is a distinctive body in the history of Manchester City Football Club.
“He is not just a motivational and resolute leader around the pitch, however, an impeccable and pitiful ambassador off it.
“His contribution is going to probably be remembered for generations to come, by supporters of our club and the broader football community who recognise Vincent as one of the iconic Premier League characters of his creation.”
