When Golden Globes are handed out on Sunday night who will win? The TV prizes are challenging to predict since voters do not usually follow the Emmys’ lead. They frequently gravitate to new displays and fresh faces, or even A-list movie celebrities who make the transfer to the small screen. Scroll down to view our complete TV predictions in all 11 categories listed in order of the racetrack chances, together with projected winners highlighted in gold. Are we spot-on, or far off?
The Globes are determined by fewer than 100 international journalists who constitute the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, but our odds are based on the combined predictions of more than 1,000 Gold Derby users, including Expert journalists we have gleaned from top media outlets, the Editors who cover awards annually for Gold Derby, the Best 24 Users who did the best calling past year’s Globe winners for TV, the All-Star Top 24 who had the predictions within the last two decades, and the mass of Users who constitute our most significant predictions bloc. Usually it’s one of those everyday Users who puts the rest of us and wins our predictions contest.
SIGN UPfor Gold Derby newsletter with predictions Will we do just as well as this past year? In 2018 Gold Derby’s chances correctly predicted 9 out of 11 TV categories (81.82%). We overlooked Best TV Comedy Actor: Aziz Ansari (“Master of None”) beat our predicted front-runner Eric McCormack (“Will and Grace”). And we were wrong about Best TV Movie/Limited Actor: we called Robert De Niro (“The Wizard of Lies”), but the Globes chose Ewan McGregor (“Fargo”).
This year’s races may be more challenging, though, given the glut of new displays in emptiness: four out of five nominees for Best Comedy Series are first-time contenders, as are five nominees for Best Drama Series. So who will go home? Find out what we think beneath. You can create or update your personal predictions here before awards are handed out this weekend.
