Though 67.5 victories might seem a bit low for a talented roster that somehow got better later winning 67 games and making its second title in three Decades, just six squads have emerged from 68 or even more regular-season contests in One year:
2015-16 Golden State Warriors: 73-9
1995-96 Chicago Bulls: 72-10
1996-97 Chicago Bulls: 69-13
1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers: 69-13
1972-73 Boston Celtics: 68-14
1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers: 68-13
This season’s Golden State Warriors are every bit as gifted as the aforementioned squads. After bringing all their key pieces and incorporating Jordan Bell, Nick Young and Omri Casspi to the combination, they might well be the most talented team in NBA history. We are even comfortable projecting them to break beyond the 70-win threshold yet again.
However, this high up no margin for error exists. Two big accidents or one could make reaching 68 victories impossible. One stretch of cold shooting could wreck their opportunities.
