A match-by-match overview of the next day of the 16th Solheim Cup in Gleneagles since Europe held after Saturday morning’s foursomes.
Anna Nordqvist & Anne van Dam dropped to Marina Alex 2 & Morgan Pressel & 1
A collapse from the pair saw the Americans grab a victory in the very best match that seemed unlikely when they were down after six openings.
A degree in the moment was good enough to place Europe and Nordqvist then birdied the next prior to a poor level putt from Alex at the fifth saw USA slip three down.
An excellent tee shot in Van Dam enabled Europe to go four up in the sixth, but the turning point arrived in the seventh once the home side looked set to go up five, just for Alex to pit a par putt from the edge of the green before Europe three-putted later Van Dam hesitated within her shortish par putt due to an oscillating ball.
The hosts’ lead was down to 2 after Van Dam discovered water along with her second shot and also a superb tee shot in the 10th to eight feet out of Alex supposed the USA were just one down.
It had been all-square following the 11th later Europe failed to wake up and down from a greenside bunker and the Americans were unusually ahead as a result of their fourth birdie. They doubled their advantage at the 13th and a par at the 15th took them three up, before Europe briefly stopped the rot by winning at the 16th.
A diploma at the 17th was enough to secure a memorable success for Alex. and Pressel
Georgia Hall & Celine Boutier 2 & Ally McDonald 3 & bt Lizette Salas
Boutier and hall made it 2 wins from two with a comfortable victory in a match that failed to ignite in the foursomes.
Salas, wrapped in layers in a bid to combat the chilly, handed an advantage at the next when she failed to salvage par and Hall holed out to move up one to Europe.
Neither pairing made a birdie on the front nine as nine of those first 10 holes were halved, however, Europe made the decisive movement as a result of back-to-back birdies at the 11th and 12th, the first out of Bouttier and the second courtesy of some perfectly-judged putt by Hall.
Hall overlooked a tiddler in the 13th to provide the Americans that a glimmer of hope but she made amends at the 14th to restore the three-hole pillow of the combination, they claimed as they wrapped it up.
Charley Hull & Azahara Munoz bt Danielle Kang & Megan Khang 4&3
Hall and Munoz put the disappointment of their meltdown in Friday’s fourballs supporting them together with another success that is comfortable going up three .
Khang missed a par putt following Hull had managed to make her four and Munoz then holed to win the second to Europe to take them further apparent.
The Anglo-Spanish pairing went up with a bogey at the eighth later Kang failed to escape a bunker and Hull awoke to place them.
Khang overlooked a six-footer in the 11th for a half, but she made amends by stripping in at the 12th to provide the USA their hole of the game.
The Americans were four down after Hull misread a putt at the 14th however there was to be no late distress this time as a par at the 14th procured them that the victory.
Bronte Law & carlota Ciganda dropped to 5 & Nelly Korda 6 & Jessica Korda
Since they set an out-of-sorts Ciganda and Law to the sword, the Korda sisters continued their type.
Missed putts from Legislation at the opening two holes permitted the Americans to accept command, though Ciganda lacked the shortage with holing a 15-footer at the fourth, just to miss out from four feet since the fifth had been set in bogeys.
Another opportunity was spurned by law to level in the sixth and that was the end of the Europeans’ challenge following Ciganda overlooked a since the Kordas went two up at the seventh.
Further wins in a birdie out of Jessica at the 13th and the watched the Kordas transfer five up gave them a 5 & 6 victory.
