Ahead of the significant kick-off, the set have picked out six players to watch, together with Chris choosing a trio of fellow wings and Danny.
First, the gasoline merchants out broad…
Chris Ashton:”I performed with him in Toulon in France and then he was a person I went into every game.
“I knew with his off-loading match I would constantly get the ball back off him and have a chance to score. I would move within him and wait for him to bulge off three lads and then give the ball to me.
“He is a man mountain. I have never seen someone with so much muscle strapped with them. Socks would fit him. He had to cut them off and wear such as tennis socks because he could not get them over his calves.”
Danny Care:”He’s up there with my favourite players to watch because he is not your average rugby union player. He is piled, although short.
“He’ll be a little Fiji legend Rupeni Caucaunibuca right back into the afternoon. He just gets the ballcauses carnage and likes to hurt people”
CA:”When I had the time of playing him, I ended up receiving the nickname’Mike Catt’. I was run over by him around four times like Jonah Lomu didn’t Catt at the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
“He could run round you, over you, hand you off, chip it although your legs, so you simply don’t know what’s coming.
“He’s ripped up the Best 14 playing Clermont and France have been using him at all the ideal places. It is likely to be great to see him move in rugby.
“I think he’s going to set this World Cup alight.”
DC:”He was just on fire Saracens a couple of years back, scoring a hat-trick, and talking to Jamie George afterwards he stated that they hadn’t ever undergone a participant like it. They simply couldn’t contact him”
CA:”He’s been England’s best finisher for a excellent few years now. Head coach Eddie Jones really likes him.
“He’s played loads in the warm-up games, however you can see that he is really enthusiastic and had plenty of energy to get in the game.
“His aerial abilities are excellent. He regains more box-kicks back than he loses and that’s an invaluable asset for the way that England would like to play with the match.
“Jonny is a go-to guy for Eddie Jones, who has set him in a number of the leadership classes. I really don’t know how comfy Jonny is with that kind of thing ”
DC:”It is mad to think about the way he is in these direction meetings when we both know how weird he is!
“We had a trip in Argentina two years back using England and we decided that any bit of kit left will go to auction on the bus. He enjoys his opinion that is fundamental and it came up two for auction.
“He paid #200 to get it back the first time, then #250 on the second time. So we took #450 off him to get a wristwatch that was probably worth 20.”
And now Danny’s selection of the amount nines…
DC:”This 22-year-old has significantly changed the way that France are playing. He backs himself, he is seriously quick, he’s strong, he likes to score tries. I believe if the French are to surprise folks in this tournament he has a significant part to play.
“I think he’s a potential player of the championship. He’s special.”
CA:”I stumbled across him several times when I had been playing with in France and he is deceptively strong for his elevation.
“When he’s captured, he usually manages to receive an offload away to maintain his group moving forward. I am happy to see that the French placing some trust in him.”
DC:”For me, Aaron Smith is probably the best scrum-half in the world right now.
“He gets New Zealand tick with his pace, enthusiasm and energy. He is the heartbeat of that side. He has the ideal pass in world rugby. Despite having very tiny hands it is completely fizzed by him. It is the perfect spiral every time.
“In the loose, he conducts those aid lines too to create the excess man and assist himself to a reasonable few attempts.”
CA:”This pass is alluring. Why is yours not that tight Danny?”
DC:”He is representing the tiny guys in world rugby, but he cries well above his weight.
“I really like playing him and seeing him perform. He enjoys getting stuck and is feisty. If South Africa would be to move all of the way, he will be pivotal.”
CA:”He’s the biggest ball of energy I have come around in a little while.
“In Sale, in gym sessions he’ll cartwheel inthrow a ball at someone’s mind, shed and do 10 press-ups.
“He is only always up and downday, nonstop. And he plays the exact same. He’s out of the box, coming hurrying up into the defensive line, shutting down big forwards.
“He is a completely unusual nine and we all are very lucky to have him”
