The schedule makers didnt do any favours to the Winnipeg Jets. Following a 5-4 loss against the New York Rangers in Madison Square Garden, the Jets will be back out to the ice to get a Friday night matchup against the New Jersey Devils. It is not a trip to Newark from NYC and it is only the second match of this season, so the Jets should not feel banged up or too tired.
Before heading through the gauntlet of a lengthy season it is far better to find the back games from the way today. The Jets are the only team to have a. While others are already enjoying their second match of the season, some groups will be making their debut tonight.
It was a fantastic attempt in the Rangers zone last night, but lackluster within their own. Connor Hellebuyck seemed especially bad, because he was beat for five goals on 31 shots. Hellebuyck wrapped the night up with a Terrible 0.839 save percentage and 5.07 GAA.
That is not the beginning the Jets looked for from Hellebuyck. The Jets are probably not going anywhere special in the 2019-20 campaign if he doesnt revert back into the year he had in 2017. The Jets were not making it into the Western Conference Final without Hellebuyck playing eloquent then. They are also without Jacob Trouba this season, so that is likely to put more stress.
The New Jersey Devils have high hopes to get their season after acquiring P.K. Subban. Subban spent three in Nashville and seven years in Montreal before heading into the Devils in a trade with the Predators. The very coveted prospect in the latest draft, jack Hughes, dropped into the lap of the Devils from the draft lottery to add a potential celebrity. The Devils may be a season or two off, but they are heading in the perfect direction. Head below for our free Jets vs. Devils select.
The Winnipeg offence could hold their heads high after the loss last night in MSG. The offence peppered Henrik Lundqvist with 47 shots, despite failing to find a win from this meeting with the Rangers. Lundqvist might have allowed 4 goals, but he kept the Rangers.
Its going to be a long year if Hellebuyck can not help out at the crease. He no longer has Trouba, or so the help defensively isnt going to be much better than last season by any other means. Trouba additional insult to injury by burying a goal against Hellebuyck for the Rangers.
Dont discount the chance of the Jets when Hellebuyck struggles 20, going to Laurent Brossoit as their fulltime netminder. Brossoit was solid as the backup at 2018-19. He posted a 2.52 GAA and also 0.925 save percentage with a listing of 13-6-2. The Jets havent named a beginner, but it wouldnt be a surprise to visit Brossoit between the pipes. If that is the case, he wasnt too great on the street. He also owned a 2.75 GAA and 0.909 save percentage in the road last season.
The Devils are expected to proceed with Cory Schneider in web. Theyre depending bouncing back after going off the rails at times last season. He finished with a GAA above 3.00 for first time in his profession and has been close to watching his save percentage fall below 0.90. Injuries were a part to get Schneider of it. He began only 23 games the previous couple of years, after playing in 40 and 60.
The addition of Subban into the line should provide Schneider with some relief. New Jersey were needing a liner that is blue and they obtained their wise. In addition to improvements to this defence, the Devils must be powerful with Kyle Palmieri, Taylor Hall, and Nico Hischier.
Keep an eye on Hischier within his third season in the NHL. Im expecting the 20-year-old to have a breakout campaign for the Devils. This class should provide a team tonight. In regards to the playoffs, the drama of Jack Hughes is going to function as x-factor. He lives up to expectations as a newcomer as well as the Devils could creep . Schneider must live up to his contract in internet.
Start looking to your Devils to come out enthused, as far as tonight is concerned and encouraged to set a great game night. They should be fresh and ready to go against the Jets that are away from your home on a back-to-back. Think about the Devils in Newark on Friday night.
