Manager Rudi Gutendorf, that holds a Guinness World Record for training 55 teams in 32 countries across five continents, has died aged 93.
Gutendorf’s managerial career spanned half a century, for example 18 sides that included China, Australia and Fiji and time in teams from his native Germany.
‘Restless Rudi’ took his first management function with Swiss side Blue Stars Zurich in the 1950s, while his role in management was with Samoa in 2003.
German FA vice-president, Dr Rainer Koch, called him an”outstanding ambassador of German football”.
“We shed in him someone who has improved us through his big heart and positivity daily,” his family said.
