A parliamentary inquiry into expulsion in the Football League and Bury’s financial crisis will be set to take place this autumn.
The Shakers were expelled following C&N Sporting Risk pulled out of a takeover of the team last month, losing their position in League One, from the Football League.

“The decision by the English Football League (EFL) to expel soccer soccer club is a catastrophe for all who follow the team in addition to the broader community that it serves. Additionally, it marks a collapse of football governance,” Collins said in a statement.
“The recent owners and owners test is obviously insufficient to guard the long-term pursuits of clubs and maintain poor owners and directors from the sport.
“The football authorities require more powers to intervene before when clubs get into financial troubles, and certainly long before they get to the edge of this abyss.”
He added:”I’d ask that at this late period that the EFL considers any sensible proposal that could support Bury’s status as a Football League club, such as whether they can play next year in League 2, under new ownership.
“The select committee believes that the problems that have affected Bury reflect a broader and developing problem within the Football League. We’ve observed similar disasters at Bolton along with other clubs in the past couple of decades.
“The committee has therefore agreed that we’ll hold hearings in the autumn to take evidence relating to the catastrophe at Bury, and the part of the EFL and the FA in protecting the long-term pursuits of nightclubs. The committee will also inquire into what needs to be done in order to strengthen soccer Management rules in this regard.”
