The team is led labour attorney Lucas Middlebrook, by baseball agent Jeff Borris and economist Andrew Zimbalist. Here is what the press release had to say. “PFA won’t just be a marriage of fighters, but it’ll be governed solely by fighters, it’s the fighters who will control their own futures. The PFA has also obtained assistance from the MLBPA, NFLPA, NHLPA, NBAPA and MLSPU. I have been privileged to represent elite athletes for almost 40 years, and think now more than ever in the benefits of collective bargaining to secure and enhance terms and conditions of employment, that’s the reason why I fully support and encourage efforts of the fighters to organize a union to represent them.” Said current executive director Donald Fehr. In order to form a union UFC fighters are independent contractors and would have to challenge that status lawfully.
